Smoking Up To Lose Weight?

Can you lose weight by smoking? There are people who will try to use this method to lose weight. Yet, it is recommended that you should not try to do so!

Cigarettes have come a long way getting people to smoke up their life for their teenage life. They started as a fashion statement and an addiction like we have heroine and marijuana these days. But when some smart marketers came in the industry in the late 1920s they made all possible ways of getting a higher sales volume for their companies. One of these techniques that drew sand in the eyes of many people especially the females was portraying them as a dietary product.

There were several advertisements that had given the look to cigarettes as an easier way for loosing weight. An advertisement of a cigarette brand showed a thin swim suit model surfing on the sea waves, followed by a fat woman. It created an image as if the fat woman if started smoking, would turn into that beautiful thin one. Females in those days found it as a key to beauty and something like the fountain of youth.

However if you see it with a broader sense, smoking does help you to reduce weight, "one lung at a time".

Men follow the same trend today

Research has shown that many people in the world actually start smoking altogether with the intention of losing weight only and then start getting addicted to this drug. Males too have never been as conscious of their physique and figures like never before as a result of increasing metro sexuality. And this eagerness to lose eight is growing on.

Nicotine seems to be the reason for reducing weight; however there is still no reason found as to how. Nicotine, to many addicted smokers seems to be the key to suppress weight and is seen increases the rate with which the body consumes energy and alters the desired calories intake.

What should dietary smokers do?

Not smoking is one really wonderful answer that you may find around for such a problem. However, it is as simple only in theory but very harsh in practice. A research using some women who wanted to give up smoking and also reduce weight had been carried out.

They were divided in three segments, with one being counseled not to smoke, the other was given tips to control weight plus the counseling for not smoking and the third segment was made not to smoke and suggested not to care about weight. The results however showed quite interesting results. It concluded that the third segment who was told not to smoke and not to worry about dieting either had the lowest weight around 5-7 pounds less on an average compared to other groups.

Like always people who want to reduce weight should keep a regular workout plan for themselves, use more vegetables and fruits and keep away from alcohol consumption too. An alcohol bottle contains somewhere around 700-800 calories and more. Of course you should also try to use some weight loss supplements so that you can lose weight in an easy way.

As for quitting smoking now, you will definitely have a healthy lifestyle, lower weight in near future. It may be difficult, but not impossible.
