Planning for Success in Weight Loss


You have to create detailed planning for your weight loss. You will not able to lose weight successfully if you do not plan it well.

It has been said that failing to plan is planning to fail. Indeed, there is an incredible transformative power in making a plan and sticking to it. For many women, the notion of losing weight can become just as consuming as finding love or starting a business. Does this sound like you? If so, it is time to create a detailed plan. You wouldn't invest in startup business without one, so why treat your personal life any differently? If you want to shed inches and pounds, you are in the business of losing weight. You will benefit from taking your business as seriously as possible.

Your Weight Loss Goal


To begin with, you must visualize your goal and create a mission statement. What is your target weight? What will it look like, and how will you know when you get there?

First and foremost, write down everything that you are hoping to achieve, and give yourself a deadline and a budget. Decide how much you can afford to spend, and write that in too. There is something about putting a pen to paper that inspires action. If you are one of the visual learners out there, you can draw a picture or find a photo of how you wish to look. Hang it in a place where you will see it every day like on your bulletin board, in a daily planner, or best of all-on your refrigerator.

A word about choosing a goal: Make it realistic! Just as in the college application process in which students are advised to choose both ˇ§safetyˇ¨ and ˇ§reachˇ¨ schools, you will want to strive a little higher than you know you can accomplish to keep up your motivation. While its' great to have lofty goals, it's smart to begin with some that aren't too far out of reach to avoid burning out.

Tell Others About Your Weight Loss Plan


Subsequent to the completion of drafting your mission, which should help you realize all the ways in which reaching your target weight will improve your life, it will be time to start marketing. That's right, get the word out to family, friends, and friends of friends so that you can get the support to keep you on the right track.

You could join an online community or a support group in your neighborhood. Perhaps, you should see a nutritionist or hire a personal trainer. After all, you are the CEO of You Inc., and you needn't go at it alone. Assemble your dream team to coach you through the challenges and celebrate the successes.

Obstacles to Weight Loss


Ah, challenges. No one ever said that losing weight is an easy task. You should expect slipups, most especially after the holidays when you are tempted by the goodies galore that have an ongoing rental in your line of vision!

Just as an alcoholic should avoid his party-going friends, you, too, should remove yourself from situations where you will be tempted to indulge in the foods that represent your own drug of choice. (i.e. Don't sit in front of the television with two pints of Ben & Jerry's after the day from hell.) If and when you do indulge, cut yourself some slack. To err is human. (And to sin is divine!) Just pick yourself right back up and start doing those Pilates.

Do you want to do everything in your power to prevent failure? Take a lesson from the sales experts and overcome all of your own objections. If you know what you will do to stop yourself from reaching for that last cookie, you may be able to stop yourself before your hand hits the jar. Still need motivation to keep your eyes focused on the prize? Believe in the power of affirmations.

Figure out what you'd really like to become reality and start telling yourself that it already is. Like any good business, you must take care of public relations. Is there an image you do or don't want to portray? What would you like people to say about you when you've reached your goal? Most importantly what would you like to say about yourself? The answers lie within. You can brand yourself into whatever you'd like to be.
